Whole school fundraising sees more than £3,000 sent to support victims of the Ukrainian crisis

Students put their best foot forward during March, to raise money for Ukraine. A week of awareness activities culminated in a ‘Ukraine Awareness Day’ on Friday 25th March, where students supplemented their uniform with blue and yellow items.

Every student had the opportunity to ‘run a mile for Ukraine’ during PE lessons, with the miles adding up to 1708 (the distance to Ukraine from Cheltenham). Other activities included making ribbons and learning about the conflict during tutor time, and sharing messages of support and solidarity on an online comment wall.

Mike Stratford, Deputy Headteacher, said; "Thank you to the students, parents, carers and staff who supported our recent Ukraine Fundraising Day; together we raised a fantastic £1670.49. By adding our donation to The Z Zurich Foundation's online fundraiser, the total has been match-funded and a total of £3,340.98 will be split evenly between the International Rescue Committee, International Committee of the Red Cross and Save the Children to support victims of the Ukrainian crisis.

"A minibus of the essential items generously donated has also been dropped at the new Gloucester Ukraine Drop, at Unit 3, Chancel Close, off Eastern Avenue."
