Supporting our Community at Christmas

08 Nov

Each year, students, families and staff at Cheltenham Bournside School come together to raise funds and collect items to support local charities. We also work to spread good community cheer in our local communities too.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Every year, our students join thousands of people in generously packing shoebox gifts to treat children in need around the world.

What you need to do:

  • Find an empty medium shoebox, and wrap the box and lid separately in colourful wrapping paper. Choose an age category 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14 and attach the appropriate label (available on the Samaritan's Purse website).
  • Fill with gifts. A selection of fun toys, hygiene items and school supplies work well. If possible, include one or two extra special items you know a child will love such a doll, cuddly toy of deflated football with pump. A personalised note is nice too.
  • Drop off your Shoebox to main school reception by 9am Monday 21st November.

For more information, please visit: Operation Christmas Child (samaritans-purse.org.uk)

Christmas Advent Calendar Collection

For the second year, we are welcoming donations of advent calendars to donate to children having treatment at Gloucester Royal Hospital Children's Centre.

Organised via our friends at the Pied Piper Appeal, the treats will be handed out to patients and their families. Last year, we were able to donate over 100!

Please bring in your advent calendars by 9am on Friday 25th November.

Food Bank Donations

Once again, we are collecting food bank donations to help local people in crisis. Over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks in The Trussell Trust network is donated by the public – that’s why your food donations are absolutely vital to their ability to give everyone referred to them a balanced and nutritious three-day supply of food.

Shopping list suggestions:

Please note that opened items, items past their sell by date, baby formula and alcohol cannot be accepted. Please give as generously as you can ahead of the donation deadline at 9am on Wednesday 14th December.

Thank you for all of your support!
