Students showcase best of Cheltenham Bournside Sixth Form

06 Feb

The team at Cheltenham Bournside School have been celebrating following a successful Sixth Form open evening, held at the end of January.

Prospective students and their families were able to learn more about about the wide range of academic A level and vocational courses on offer, meet with the school's excellent teaching team, explore our extensive resources, facilities and enrichment options, and take a break in the Pitstop, the new sixth form cafe.

Headteacher, Mr Jefferies and Head of Sixth Form, Mr Warren, welcomed visitors during two welcome talks where they shared the school's values, ambition and how it sets each student up for success with clear lines of academic and pastoral support and by offering a huge range of opportunity across the sixth form, with the support of two Senior House Captains, Naifa and Ben.

Mr Warren said, "I was proud to see so many of our current Sixth Form students involved in the delivery of our recent open evening, representing our school community so well. Naifa and Ben spoke fantastically about their experiences of joining Bournside sixth form as external and internal students and Luke performed beautifully on the trombone during the welcome talks, supported by Mr Clift. Many other students played a key role in the event too, leading families around the school, supporting numerous interactive teaching demonstrations and entertaining visitors in multiple busking spots around the school too.

"Thank you of course to our dedicated sixth form teaching team, for showcasing their offer and sharing the passion they have for their subjects throughout the evening."

With 38 A level and vocational options available at Bournside Sixth Form - the widest range available locally - there was plenty to see on the evening. New courses in Applied Science, Criminology and Mandarin proved popular, whilst interest in subjects including science, maths, business, English, history, geography and languages remained high.

The sports department, which offers both an A level and BTEC qualification, welcomed visitors to the school's new Fitness Suite, which is located near to the school's excellent drama, theatre and music studio and resources.

We hope that visitors were able to get a sense of the schools values - ambition, curiosity, pride, purpose, respect and support - during their visit, and were inspired by the huge range of opportunity available at Cheltenham Bournside Sixth Form.

Applications to join Cheltenham Bournside Sixth Form are now welcomed until Friday 24th February. Any questions? Please email sixthformadmissions@bournside.gloucs.sch.uk.
