Teaching Taster Days

Gaining School Experience

School experience is essential if you’re interested in becoming a teacher.  Before you apply for your training, you’ll need to gain as much experience in the classroom as possible in order to strengthen your application and prepare you for potential interviews and to confirm this is a profession you would like to pursue.

At Cheltenham Bournside School we believe a career in teaching provides opportunities to use our knowledge and skills to inspire, challenge, encourage and support young people to progress and achieve their potential.

We are immensely proud of our vibrant and forward looking school community. Our core belief is that every student develops the knowledge, skills and self-confidence to become the best they can be. This underpins all we do and is achieved through a superb standard of education, offering outstanding resources and understanding each and every individual.

We strive to secure the highest standards of achievement for all, based on a secure and deep understanding of each individual and his or her capacity to excel. The pursuit of excellence across the school’s activity is demonstrated by a constant drive to improve or maintain high levels of achievement and personal development for all.

We offer an opportunity for those considering a career in teaching to attend a one day school experience taster day to help you decide if teaching is something you would like to pursue.

We hold two ‘Taster Days’ each academic year in the summer and autumn terms.

Our dates for 2018/19 are:-

  • Friday, 28th September 2018
  • Tuesday, 21st May 2019

The day includes an opportunity for:

  • An address by the Headteacher/member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Understand what teaching looks like today
  • Observe lessons/different teaching methods
  • Plan and deliver a lesson in a small group
  • Hear about different pathways into teaching
  • Questions and Answers
