The headteacher recently met with Regi from year 11 to congratulate her on her achievements as a tennis player.
Regi, who is the current under 14 county singles champion, began playing tennis at the age of 10 when her mother, who is a tennis coach, spotted her talent. As part of her training, she now plays every day and trains in the gym to work on both agility and strength.
Earlier this year, Regi was nominated by her PE teacher, Miss Balhatchet, for the GPFA Honourable Company of Gloucestershire Award for inspiring young sports people in the county. Regi has since been awarded £250 by the GPFA in recognition of her sporting achievements. She is due to be presented with a cheque by the GPFA president, Dame Janet Trotter at the organisation’s AGM next month.
In relation to Regi’s general sporting attitude, Miss Balhatchet complimented her on humble approach and observes that she offers constant praise to her competitors and is an inspiration to others.
