Activities Week 2024

Activities Week: Monday 8th  - Thursday 11th July
House Sports Day: Friday 12th July

"It's nearly here! The organisation of our ambitious Activities Week programme takes a lot of time of effort, but we think it's worth it to provide a week of valuable educational experiences which cannot be delivered during the course of the traditional school day.

Once again, THANK YOU to all of the teaching and support staff - especially Miss Fordyce - involved in the planning and delivery of Activities Week. A huge amount of staff are involved in the trips next week and we hope everyone has a great time.

Please meet at your meeting point 15 minutes before the time of departure to ensure trips are able to leave on time.

Have a great week!"

- Mr Kelly, Assistant Headteacher

Dear parent/carer,

We are looking forward to rounding off Activities Week next week with the highly anticipated return of the Bournside House Sports Day. Our student-led teams have been busy recruiting participants to represent each house, in what is a fantastic day of sporting challenge, cross-curricular experiences and fun!

Weather permitting, the school day will run as follows:

Sports Day 2024 - Friday 12th July, 2024

(Normal start to the school day - students to head to their afternoon tutor room on arrival)

8.40am - 9.55am

  • KS3 Sports Day briefing and celebration prep (including celebration banner creation and supporters activities).

  • Health and Wellbeing Olympic Quiz.

  • Year 10 field events (Note: *KS3 field events take place this Friday, 5th July).

Break (all), 9.55am - 10.20am

10.20am - 11.00am

  • Final preparation and out to the field.

11.00am - 1.30pm

  • KS3 and Year 10 Track Events.

  • All students out on the field, either competing or supporting their house teams.

  • We hope to have ice cream vans on the field as well (cash/card payment required).

1.30pm

  • Early finish (all students).

Please note: Students are asked to wear PE Kit, whether taking part or cheering from the sidelines. Due to the early finish, the school canteen will not be open. A packed lunch can be eaten on the field during the Track events. School finishes for all students at 1.30pm. Students in receipt of Free Schools Meal can collect a lunch from the Lower Dining Centre between 1.30pm and 1.40pm.

We hope that the weather is kind next week, but in the event of bad weather Sports Day will be cancelled and lessons will take place as usual (students can choose to wear PE kit if they would like to). School will finish for all students at 1.30pm. The canteen will not be open, however students in receipt of Free Schools Meal can collect a lunch from the Lower Dining Centre between 1.30pm and 1.40pm.

Kind regards,

Mr Kelly and Mr Winterbottom

Assistant Headteacher and Head of PE
