Extra-Curricular Opportunities

International Academy

For years 8 & 9 in B213 on Thursday lunchtimes.

Various activities connected to the French and German curriculum such as writing letters to our partner schools in France and Germany, developing international links and furthering our interest in languages.

Reading Club

For selected students in year 7 during Tuesday tutor time in the learning centre.

For selected students in year 8 during Thursday tutor time in the learning centre.

Parents will be notified if their child is to attend.

Debating Club

For students in years 10-13 every Monday lunchtime in B2.13

History at University Preparation Club

For sixth form students every Friday lunchtime in H6. This club is particularly targeted at students hoping to apply to a Russell Group university to study History.

Programming Club

Open to all students on Wednesday after school in G34. A place for anyone to come and experiment with, or practice programming. Come and get experience from other students, or chat about programming and computer science. Ideal for year 10 students studying Computer Science and for year 11 preparing for practical assessment.


Open to years 7-11 on Thursday after school in G33. Create functional robots using Lego Mindstorms. Come and have a look and see what current students are doing.

Environmental Club

For years 7-9 on Tuesday lunchtime in the science quad.

Meeting throughout the year so as it gets colder students will need warm and waterproof clothing. Drink and biscuit provided, students can also eat their lunch.

Open to year 10 students on Monday lunchtime in G4.

Christian Union

Open to all students on Thursday lunchtime in J1.

Duke of Edinburgh

We offer Duke of Edinburgh at all levels: bronze, silver and gold for years 9-12.

Meetings precede expeditions and trips, but may also be called at other times of the year. For year 12 this can be part of the enrichment programme on a Wednesday afternoon.

Details will be communicated to students and parents via the student and parent bulletins.


Girls Netball

For years 7-9. Friday 3.10pm-5pm.

For years 10-11. Wednesday 3.10pm-4.30pm

For years 12-13. Wednesday lesson 5 – 4.30pm

Tuesdays and Thursdays are predominantly fixture nights for Netball with a few games being run on a Wednesday.

For years 8 and 9. Wednesday 8am-8.35am.

Girls Hockey

For years 7-9. Wednesday 3.10pm-3.30pm.

For years 7-11. Matches – Thursday 3.10pm-3.30pm.

For years 9-11. Friday 3.10pm-3.30pm.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are predominantly fixture nights for Hockey.


For all students on a Monday after school. Students need to sign up a term in advance due to popularity.

Youth Choir

This is a singing group for years 7-11 on Monday lunchtime in M14.. We sing a wide variety of pop songs and lighter kinds of music.


On Tuesday lunchtime in M14. This instrumental group is open to all students that play any orchestral instrument. come along and enjoy a wide variety of music.

Guitar Club

On Tuesday lunchtime in M8. Open to guitarists from any year. Enjoy a variety of musical styles.

Ukulele Group

On Wednesday lunchtime in M14. A very popular club open to all.

Flute Group

On Wednesday lunchtime in M8. Open to flautists from all years. Led by a year 12 student, Jasmine Caulfield.

String Group

On Wednesday after school in M14. Open to string players from any year.

Senior Singers

On Thursday lunchtime in M14. A singing group open to years 10 and above.

Grade 5 Theory Club

Open to all years on Friday morning, during registration in M14. For students who are interested in improving their knowledge and skills in the area of music theory. Vital if you are planning to take a higher grade practical music exam.

Jazz Band

On Friday lunchtime in M14 for all year groups. The Jazz Band performs in a variety of musical styles.

School Musical – “Fiddler on the Roof”

Cast meet on Tuesday and Friday after school in the Main Hall.

We do not specify that an instrumentalist needs to be at a particular level or grade for any club. If the music is too hard initially, we can always provide easier parts! Participation is the key!
