24 of our year 8 brilliant club students visited Warwick University on Tuesday 20th March as they embarked on the Scholars Programme. It was a fantastic surprise to be given a campus tour by ex-Bournside student Ewan McNeile and inspired our year 8s to want to follow in his footsteps!
Mr Burton met with the group during the last week of term to find out more about their visit and to wish them well for the upcoming hard work that will be needed during the programme. Daisy explained “We were taken on a tour of Warwick University to see all of the different buildings and listen to some of its history. We were then split into 2 groups, one for an Arts programme and the other for a STEM programme, we then had a lecture and later a tutorial with our tutors. It was really interesting and fun. It’s changed my aspirations and I’m really interested in Warwick University now.”
This is now our third cohort to take part in Brilliant Club, the first now being in Year 10. The students will be working with a PhD student on either an Arts or STEM Programme over the coming months during many tutorials, and will be challenging themselves to graduate with flying colours.
