The Parent Forum is a friendly group of around 25 parents/carers of current Bournside students across all age groups.
The purpose of the group is to provide the school’s Senior Leadership Team with a ‘sounding board’ to obtain views on a range of different issues related to the school and its students. This is not a decision making group but a forum offering a parent/carer perspective into a range of issues suggested by the school’s senior leadership team. Such parent/carer involvement is a key part of the school’s drive to secure further improvement.
During the 2015-16 academic year, the group have discussed and made recommendations on the following topics:
- Choice of Languages offered to year 7, 8 and 9 students
- English Baccalaureate
- Junior Leadership
- Setting of online homework
- Student reports
- The student charter
The group meet five times every year, broadly once every couple of months, for around an hour. The particular issue(s) to be discussed at the meeting are shared with the forum in advance of each meeting and on occasions, some minor pre-reading materials are shared too.
